Each February, the UGA Dairy Science Club hosts the University of Georgia Commercial Dairy Heifer Show at the UGA Livestock Instructional Arena. We most recently hosted the 26th annual show, on February 11, 2023. The Dairy Science Club coordinates and hosts the event in which over 113 4-H and FFA youth from across the state of Georgia exhibit over 150 commercial dairy heifers.  The club is responsible for all facets of the event including registration of animals, securing sponsorship to put on the show, and setting up the barn for the show. Duties for the show also include selecting the judges and insuring everything runs smoothly! Each year the Dairy Science Club elects 2 members to serve as our Commercial Heifer Show’s Co-Chairs. These individuals take on much of the planning and organizational responsibility. This show also serves as a practice for youth to better prepare them for the State Commercial Heifer Show in Perry, GA which takes place a couple weeks later.
